Saint Martin island of Bay of Bengal



Saint Martin is a small but a very nice island in Bay of Bengal. It is about 8km long island. It is stand on the north site of Bay of Bengal and 9 km deep from south from Taknaf cox’s Bazer. There is a another island named charadip . it is adjoining with Saint Martin island. It is about 8km far from Myanmar cost. There is a river between Myanmar and Bangladesh called Naf Nodi. Naf nodi means naf is the name of the river and nodi is a local word which means river.
The local name of this island is “Narical jinjera” which means the coconut island. There are a lot of coconut tree. For that the local people called it Coconut Island. It is one of the most visited place of Bangladesh. Every year many people come to visit here from all over the world.







Transportation
Water way is only one transport system to reach the island. There is no byway or highway to go. In water way there are two systems to reach here. One is getting with a fishing boat which is not safe for the tourists. And the other is getting by the ship.
Keari Sindabad
Keari Sindabad is the name of a ship which carry the passenger from Taknaf to Saint Martin island.There is three category ticket for the passenger. Frist class, second class and third class tickets.
Condition of the island
You can’t find any kind of car or taxis. Even there is no electricity. There are some hotels but there is no use of electricity. They use generator for supply electricity. There are not much sores of drinking water. Only one pond has in the middle point of the island which water is use for drinking. Without it there is not more mineral water. There is school , a Madrasha , and a Mosque.
People of this island is very honest, friendly, religious, and not much rich but they are very happy. They lead a very simple life. Their main profession is fishing.
